Sylva inaugurates 12-man committee on establishment of petroleum refining hubs

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, has inaugurated a 12-man committee on the establishment of petroleum refining hubs in the country.

Inaugurating the Committee, the Honourable Minister of State, Sylva, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Dr Nasir Sani Gwarzo, said the envisaged policy will increase Nigeria’s domestic refinery capacity and, subsequently, make the country a net exporter of petroleum products.

The committee’s, four terms of reference, includes the drafting of the policy for the establishment of a petroleum refining hub in Nigeria; preparing the scope of services required for the engagement of a consultant; preparing a draft memo to the Federal Executive Council, FEC, for the developed draft policy; and any other matter that will aid the successful establishment of the hub.

The Petroleum Refining Hub committee, with a six-week time frame to submit its report was headed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Dr Nasir Sani Gwarzo.

Other members of the committee are: Engineer Busari Kamoru, Director, Upstream MPR, Member/Secretary; Matthew Amaefule, Director, Midstream MPR; Halilu Abdumalik, GM R&S, Dr Kelechi Ofoegbu, S.A. Legal-HMSPR; Amos Oliver, Manager Oil Processing Facilities; Mshella Abdullahi, T.A. COO R & P; DCRO, Akpabiri Ojo, C; Lasisi Saheed, DM Planning; TA-PS Adamu Mathias; and SA Technical PS Olufemi Peters.
