Irate youths went on rampage in Osogbo to protest the death of a suspected internet fraudster who lost control of his vehicle while trying to evade arrest by men of Osun Joint Task Force (JTF).
Dateline Nigeria learnt tha the suspect, simply identified as Remi, and three others were involved in the accident.
They were being chased by the JTF when the accident occured Tuesday evening along the East bypass.
The three others were taken to the hospital while Remi died on the spot.
The youths, angered by the conduct of the JTF personnel, took to the street in protest, bringing traffic to a standstill in Osogbo.
Oyetola urges youth to remain calm, promises action
Meanwhile, Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has described the death of the young man as very unfortunate and devastating.
He sympathised with the family and loved ones of the deceased, even as he urged citizens and residents of Osun, especially the youths to remain calm and not take laws into their own hands.
He assured that a proper and transparent investigation will be conducted to unravel the circumstances surrounding the sad incident and ensure that those responsible for the death of the young man are brought to book.
