Rahama Sadau: How Ali Nuhu stole the show

Nigerian actress Rahama Sadau is no stranger to controversy. But with her recent photos, she got more than she bargained for, or, as some will say, bitten more than she can chew.

Perhaps she thought it harmless to share photos revealing half back. Perhaps she expected the usual mixed reactions that usually trailed her posts, with people speaking for or against her. How wrong she was!

Many are now accusing her of providing a platform for someone to blaspheme the prophet in addition to tarnishing the image of Islam.

It is in this light that Ali Nuhu’s post on his Facebook page on Tuesday should be seen. Though he did not call anyone’s name, it is not difficult to see or understand what he was talking about.

Ali Nuhu, who is by far the most popular face of Kannywood, said a prayer and many interpreted it to mean his take on the Rahama Sadau storm.

He posted; Oh Allah grant us a faithful ending, grant us the grace to avoid things that will attract your wrath upon us. Oh Allah You do as You please with Your creatures; guide us and all those who seek to be guided.

“Save us from stubbornness, pride and feeling of being untouchable. Oh Allah grant us the wisdom to accept correction even if it is from our children, not to talk of companions, seniors, colleagues and true fans, for the sake of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.). Oh Allah as You parted us peacefully with our parents, grant us peaceful exit from this world, so that we become good examples.”

Many Kannywood stars have also commented, Aminu S. Bono, Tijjani Asase, Ramadan Booth, among others. Indeed Aminu S. Bono turned into a preacher at a point quoting verses from the Quran, sayings of the prophet, and more.

He ended by saying that if Rahama Sadau thinks she can speak she should remember Aisha Dan Kano, if she thinks she is educated and can speak English she should remember Hauwa Maina, if she thinks she is popular she should remember Hauwa Ali Dodo, and if she thinks she is now famous she should remember Ibro, but all of them are late now.

Lawan Ahmad, in his response, used some strong words, and even abusive language. He asked Rahama Sadau to stop portraying Kannywood stars in bad light and asked her parents and relations to call her to order.

However, Ali Nuhu’s appears to carry more weight even though he mentioned no name. His post, according to some, suggests that Rahama Sadau sees herself as untouchable and above correction.

Most of the people who have commented on Ali Nuhu’s post have commended him for his wise words.

Rahama Sadau, who has the most followers among Kannywood stars on Instagram, has tried and is still trying to explain herself, even weeping in a video of apology she posted. She has also deleted the controversial images. But many still see it as belated. Many also questioned why she failed to take down the blasphemous comment if not the photos that attracted it.

It would be recalled that in 2016, Rahama was suspended from the Hausa movie industry for hugging a singer Classiq in his music video. Even among her colleagues, many believed she went over board and crossed the boundary.
