Pandora Papers: Group calls for resignation, prosecution of acting NPA boss

The Unified Nigerian Youths Forum (UNYF) has called for the resignation and prosecution of the Acting Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Mohammed Bello-Koko for violating Nigeria’s public service code of conduct laws as revealed in the Pandora Papers reporting.

President of Unified Nigerian Youth Forum, Comrade Abdulsalam Mohammed Kazeem, made the call at a press conference in Kaduna on Wednesday.

“We call on Mr President to immediately sack Mr Koko where he fails to eat the humble pie and resign. As his continued stay in office will remain a stain on the anti-corruption crusade of the present administration,” Kazeem said.

“We also urge the Code of Conduct Tribunal and the Economic and financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to dust the file of Mr Bello-Koko and summon him to answer some questions,” he said, adding that “the Minister of Justice should use all instruments of our laws to ensure every Kobo that was stolen from Nigeria and Nigerians is returned.”

PREMIUM TIMES had reported how Bello-Koko used shell companies to acquire properties in London, United Kingdom, one of which he did after joining the NPA as Executive Director Finance and Administration. Bello-Koko has also remained a director of the two companies he used to acquire the properties.

“While serving as the Head of Finance of Nigeria’s lucrative Ports Authority, there have been allegations of missing and unaccounted billions of naira, which led to questionable suspension of Hajiya Hadiza Bala Usman and speedy elevation of Mr Mohammed Bello-Koko as acting MD.

“Hadiza can’t be guilty while Bello-Koko is snow-like white, when they both worked as partners in either ways, and as such if not for our bad leadership system, Mr Koko has no business in Nigeria Port Authority after the uncelebrated exit of Hadiza Bala Usman,” Kazeem added.

The UNYF president gave an ultimatum of seven days for Bello-Koko to resign or be sacked, failure of which they will occupy all Nigerian Ports.
