NHIS urges Yobe healthcare agency to follow guidelines

The Yobe State Contributory Health care Management Agency (YOSCHMA) has been urged to effectively utilise the fund under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund Programme (BHCPF) according to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) guidelines.

The NHIS Yobe State Coordinator Alh. Dabo I. Abdulahi made the call during the Capacity Building Workshop orgarnized by the health agency’s management in Damaturu.

He said the NHIS organized the workshop in order to give more enlightenment on how the Basic Health Care Provision Provision Fund Programme would be effectively implemented.

He also called for more synergy between the NHIS and the state agency.

The Executive Secretary Yobe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, Dr. Babagana Tijjani, who also represented the Commissioner for Health, said Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved the financing of the enrolment of 32,000 vulnerables for accessing free healthcare under the state agency.

Tijjani had, in his remarks, highlighted some of the archievements so far recorded by the agency, noting that the state formal sector programme had already started by the enrolment of the State and Local Government civil servants, who are now accessing healthcare.

He also said enrollees of BHCPF have started going to the hospitals for healthcare services.

Alh. Saidu Adamu from the NHIS Headquarters, who was the facilitator of the workshop, gave an overview of the BHCPF, implementing the NHIS gateway, Fund Management, accreditation, enrolment, monitoring and evaluation among others.

One of the participants at the workshop, Dr. Salisu Hassan, the Head of Programmes, NHIS Yobe State, said he learnt a lot especially in the area of NHIS gateway.

He also thanked the NHIS for organising the important workshop.

Alh. Sale Ibrahim, the Head of ICT YOSCHMA, who was also a participant, commended the effort of the NHIS Executive Secretary Professor Nasir Sambo for approving the conduct of workshop, describing it as an avenue for creating synergy and cordial working relationship between the NHIS and the state agency.
