A newborn girl dumped by her mother has been found along with a handwritten note in Unguwar Amare, on the outskirts of Daura town, Katsina State.
The yet-to-be found mother wrote in the short note that she got pregnant for a man who promised to marry her but disappeared without trace after putting her in the family way.
The baby was found Friday morning.
The note, which was written in Hausa, reads: “I am dropping this newborn girl against my will. Someone deceived me and got me pregnant only for him to run away. I am dropping her here with the hope that a good samaritan will find her. Her name is Barira. May Almighty Allah guide our younger ones and keep the baby for us.”
According to Katsina Post, the baby was taken to the police station by residents who found her and later to the hospital.
