Man tries to force self into group photo with Buhari in Kebbi

In what a security expert described as a security breach, an unidentified man tried to force his way into a group photograph with President Muhammadu Buhari in Argungu, Kebbi State.

Buhari was in the town for the Argungu Agricultural and Fishing Festival which is being held after 11 years of suspension.

In the short clip which is making the rounds in the social media, the man in dark brown kaftan and cap was seen as he tried to join a group photo which the president was about to take together with the governors of Kebbi, Jigawa and others.

He was however stopped by security agents. Another man’s voice could be heard asking: who is this? Where is he from?

Speaking to Dateline Nigeria, a security expert Muhammad Sani, said there should be explanations to be made by those in charge of the president’s safety.

“You can see clearly from the video that the man could have harmed the president if that was his intention. Luckily, he seemed only interested in having a photo. This should serve as a warning to the security agents around the president,” Sani said.

Dateline Nigeria reports that, at the event, President Buhari lamented that insecurity created a lull in tourism and entertainment for many years, with ripple effects on the economy, by restricting movements, gatherings and investments, promising to promote policies that will stimulate more interest in tourism and entertainment.

“Our presence here today is evidence of Government’s commitment to restoring security and expanding domestic food production as core mandate of our programmes.

“I thank the people of Kebbi State for your support to the Governor as he embarked on this very important national assignment.’’
