Commander of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Ibrahim Taiwo said the Army took live bullets to Lekki tollgate on October 20, 2020.
Taiwo stated this while testifying before the judicial panel of inquiry set up by Lagos state government to probe the incident.

However during his cross examination by Olumide Fasika (SAN), the commander said the live rounds were never used on the protesters at Lekki tollgate.
He insisted the officers who had live ammunitions were their to protect their colleagues who were on ground to enforce the curfew using blank bullets.
