Leave Sanusi out of Zazzau debacle, group tells Baba-Ahmed

A group, Zaria Progressive Minds, has urged former federal permanent secretary Hakeem Baba Ahmed to leave former Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II out of the issues concerning the race to succeed late Dr Shehu Idris.

Baba-Ahmed had urged Sanusi II to stay out of the Emir of Zazzau debacle, adding that if Sanusi must get involved, he should advise his friend Governor Nasir El-Rufai to resolve the problem now and justly.

The group, speaking through its chairman, Musa Wusasa, urged the former permanent secretary to focus on contributing his quota towards developing Zaria and the state in general.

Wusasa, in a press statement he issued, exonerated the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria governor from any involvement in the Zazzau emirate debacle.

He also said Governor Nasir El-Rufai was doing his best to make sure a credible candidate with integrity succeeds late Shehu Idris to consolidate the task of uniting people in the state and moving the Emirate forward.

Wusasa said “The impression people will have from Baba-Ahmed undue public alarm is that Sanusi Lamido is trying to singlehandedly enthrone new emir which is not true.

“Sanusi’s closeness to Governor El-Rufai dates back long time ago and the two allies are more of brothers. Trying to create cleavage between the two friends is unwarranted at this time.”
