Kano police arrest 3 suspected kidnappers, 2 drug dealers

The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrested of suspected kidnappers and the recovery of illicit drugs worth millions of naira.

The Public Relations Officer of the command DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

“On the 23/09/2021 at about 1746hrs, a report was received from a resident of Kwanar Ganduje, Sharada Phase II Quarters, Kano, that he was contacted and threatened on the telephone to pay N2m, otherwise, himself or any member of his family would be kidnapped

“And that, sometimes in the month of August 2021, he was contacted with the same phone number and was threatened, where he gave the sum of N1m.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, the Commissioner of Police, Kano state Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, raised and instructed a team of detectives led by SP Shehu Dahiru to trace and arrest the culprit.

“The team swiftly swung into action. Following credible intelligence and sustained follow-up, trace and arrested the suspects; (i) Salihu Usman, ‘m’, 24 years old, of Anguwan Rogo, Jos, Plateau State, (ii) Mubarak Aliyu, ‘m’, 18 years old, of Duwala area, Jos, Plateau State and (iii) Sahibul Husna Auwal, ‘m’, 17 years old, of Kwanar Ganduje Sharada Quarters, Kano.

“On preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to have conspired and sent threatening text messages to the complainant demanding the sum of N2m, they also confessed to have previously collected the sum of N1m from him.

“Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.”

Similarly, the Kano State Police Command announced the arrest of suspected drug dealers.

“Based on credible information received, team of detectives led by DSP Mutari Jibrin Dawanau while working on credible intelligence, raided a House located at Sabuwar Gandu Quarters, Kumbosto LGA, Kano State, where two suspects, (i) Musa Abdullahi, ‘m’, 25 years old, of Dandire Sokoto state and (ii) Imran Muhd, ‘m’, 27 years old, of Tirkawa, Sabon Birni LGA, Sokoto State were arrested.

“They were found to be in possession of 129 packets of Exol Tablets valued at N3.2m; 25 empty packets of Diazapam Tablets; eight Mobile Phones; 10 Identity Cards with different photographs; one Toshiba Laptop; one sharp horn; one suspected Army face mask; bunch of charms; cash sum of N67,935.

“Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation,” he said.
