Kannywood stars jubilate as El-Rufai allocates land for cinema project

Kannywood stars have hailed Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai for allocating land and donating money for the foundation-laying of a cinema project in the state.

This was disclosed by a famous Kannywood film producer and actor Falalu Dorayi, according to the BBC Hausa.

Governor El-Rufai had in September last year promised Kannywood a land to build creative industries in the state to promote culture and tradition not only within Nigeria, but across Africa.

Dorayi said Kannywood stakeholders under the umbrella of a group called Movie Hope were the ones who requested for the land from the governor where they can show their films or shoot movies.

“Actually a request was made for the allocation of land for cinema project to the governor just like it was done in other states. The project will accommodate cinema, studios, eateries and relaxation spot,” according to Falalu Dorayi.

He said the stars were last week led by Musa Halilu (Dujiman Adamawa) on a visit to Governor El-Rufai who redeemed his pledge by allocating the land and part of the money to lay the foundation for the project.

There were so many notable stars on the delegation that visited the governor to thank him. They include Ibrahim Mandawari, Saratu Gidado (Daso), Hadizan Saima, Rabi’u Rikadawa (Dila), Maryam Yahaya, Musa Mai Sana’a, Bello Muhammad Bello, and so on.

Ƙannywood stars have been yearning for a place where they can record and show films for a very long time.

In 2016, the Federal Government wanted to build a film village in Kano to promote the film industry and provide job opportunities for the yound, but the move wad jettisoned after many rejected it arguing that it will make their children wayward.
