Kaduna: NSCDC officer nabs COVID-19 patient attempting to escape

An officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Corps Assistant Joshua Philip has foiled an attempt by a COVID-19 patient to escape from an isolation centre in Kaduna.

Philip was posted to Infectious Disease Control Center, Down Quarters, Kaduna South to provide security services in and around the isolation centre.

He narrated how the patient tried to leave the center for morning prayers without the permission of doctors, resulting in a confrontation.

The patient had forcefully picked the keys of the gate of the Center and tried to open the gate to escape but he was arrested by Philip.

The patient is said to have engaged Philip in serious fracas, which has exposed the officer to the patient of the Covid 19.

Meanwhile, the keys were disinfected, while a doctor gave the personnel some drugs and instructed him to isolate himself for two weeks and call the center if he develops any symptoms.

The corps has since strengthened its security measures in the internal isolation centre it said in a statement signed by Ekunola Gbenga, a Media Assistant to the NSCDC Commandant General.
