Retired Commissioner of Police Muhammad Wakili has dismissed rumours of his death saying he is hale and hearty.
There were rumours Tuesday night on the social media with many saying the former Kano police commissionet died in a road accident.
However, speaking to BBC Hausa service, Wakili, popularly known as Singham during his commissioner days in Kano, said many had been calling him in an effort to establish the truth.
“I don’t know where the rumour started from and I don’t know the motive. The rumour got many people worried. People started calling me around 11pm on Tuesday to know the truth,” Wakil said.
He said he got to know about the rumour when a prominent person called him after seeing social media posts.
“I have his number, so I said to myself: I hope everything is alright. When I answered I asked if everything was alright and responded by saying Alhamdulillah. He told me that people have been sharing posts about my purported death,” the ex-CP said.
He urged his supporters to remain calm as he was hale and hearty.
