How mother and her 4 children were killed in Anambra

A pregnant mother and her four children have been killed in the South Eastern Anambra State.

Harira Jibril, 32, and her chidren – Fatima, 9, Khadijah, 7, Hadiza, 5, and Zaituna, 2 – were allegedly killed along with six others by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) on Sunday.

Officials of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have confirmed the attack, noting that they have launched a manhunt for those behind the killing.

The husband of the slain woman, Jibril Ahmed, told the BBC Hausa Service that his wife, who was nine-month pregnant, and their children were returning from a visit to Orumba North when they were killed.

Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, who is the Sarkin Hausawa of Ihiala in Anambra State told the BBC Hausa that the slain woman hailed from Adamawa State.

He said the Hausa people in the state are now living in fear.

According to him, in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State where he resides, the Hausa people have all fled for fear of being attacked by the outlawed IPoB elements.

Dateline Nigeria reports that incidents of violence in the South East have led to the kidnapping and beheading of a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly Okechukwu Okoye. An Army couple was also recently killed while travelling to Imo State for their wedding.
