Gunmen have killed 30 people in an attack on a village in Ethiopia’s Oromia region, residents have said, Reuters news agency reports.
“We took the bodies using a car and we buried 30 people,” farmer Wossen Andarege told Reuters.
He heard gun shots during the raid on the village in Wollega Zone, and fled with his family to a government office, Mr Wossen is quoted as saying.
Survivors blamed the attack on the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), also known as OLF-Shane, Reuters reports.
The regional government’s communications office said that an unknown number of civilians were killed in what it called a “terror attack”.
The OLA – which says it is fighting for the “liberation” of Oromia – has not yet commented.
