Unknown gunmen today attacked and killed three soldiers at Umunze-Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The security officers were on patrol when they were attacked by gunmen. During the attack, some civilians were also reportedly killed.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident to The Punch.
Ikenga, who did not confirm the casualty figures, said there were shootings close to a new generation bank in Umunze.
He stated that the details had not been received, adding that the incident happened between 12-1.30pm.
He said the command had deployed security operatives to secure the area, adding that those responsible for such actions would be dealt with.
