Guber primary: Why name of Bauchi governor appeared on ballot paper – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Bauchi State Chapter has said that the name of Governor Bala Muhammed appeared on the gubernatorial primary election ballot paper in error.

State Chairman of the Party Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam gave the explanation today while answering questions from newsmen, at the end of the primary election in Bauchi.

He said that “the error was from the party’s national secretariat, as you have seen the name of His Excellency, Senator Bala Mohammed in our Governorship primary ballot papers, it was an error from our National Secretariat.

“His Excellency, Governor Bala is not contesting the Governorship election now in Bauchi, he is among those that are contesting for the office of the President in the forthcoming presidential primary of our party.”

Supervising the election, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner Ibrahim Abdullahi advised political parties in Bauchi State to be guided by the Electoral Act throughout the process.

Abdullahi said the commission has made electoral guidelines available to political parties, electorates and all the relevant stakeholders to avoid irregularities.

He commended the party for the orderly conduct of the election which saw the former Secretary to the State Government SSG, Barr. Ibrahim Kashim as the winner.

The former Secretary to the Bauchi State government Barrister Ibrahim Kashim emerged unopposed as PDP governorship candidate.
