Flood: Nasarawa governor visits Ara, assesses level of damage

Nasarawa State Governor Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule has visited Ara, a community in Nasarawa Local Government which was damaged by flood occasioned by heavy downpour.

The governor visited the community in the company of Hon. Mohammed Sani Otto, Executive Chairman, Nasarawa Local Government Council, Hon. Aliyu Tijjani Aliyu, Secretary to Nasarawa State Government and other profiled personalities.

The visit followed flooding arising from heavy downpour that resulted in the loss of valuable items. The downpour also affected drainages including the bridge linking Palace of the Emir of Ara, HRH, Alh. Ibrahim Dantani Galadima into the town.

Hon. Mohammed Sani Otto, Nasarawa Local Government Council Chairman appreciated His Excellency for his show of concern over the plight of the people of Ara of Nasarawa Local Government Area, a clear indication of purposeful and people oriented governance.

Having assessed the level of damage caused by the flood, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule sympathized with the Emir and people of Ara stating that this first wave of flood has awaken government to its responsibility of finding quick solutions by ensuring Ara has rural road with proper drainage system.

He further mandated the Nasarawa State Ministry of Works to commence construction of feeder road immediately after Sallah.
