The Federal Government has distributed assorted grains to the victims of flood and windstorm that recently hit Darazo, Shira, Jama’are and other parts of Bauchi State.
The grains were distributed by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Farouq on Saturday.
The minister condoled with the government and people of Bauchi State over the disaster, adding that the grains, from the national reserves, was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari as palliatives to vulnerable persons.
The food items are meant to cater for 70, 867 households, comprising over 3,500 metric tonnes of grains.
“Preliminary report on the incidents indicate the need for relief intervention, and the National Emergency Management Agency has been activated to assess the situation and provide necessary support to the affected persons to cushion the effects of the disaster,” she said.
