The Emir of Kwatarkwashi, Alh. Ahmad Umar Mai-Kwatarshi, has passed on at the age of 93, family sources informed Dateline Nigeria.
His janaza (funeral prayer) held at 6:30pm today and was attended by hundreds of mourners.
Born in 1929, the late Zamfara monarch was appointed village head of Samawa in 1954, and served for seven years.
He became Uban Ƙasa/District Head of Kwatarkwashi under Sultan of Sokoto Abubakar III in March 1961 after the removal of his elder brother Aliyu in 1960.
