The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has secured the conviction of the self-acclaimed Rector of International College of Professions (ICP), Eha-Alumona in Nsukka, Enugu State.
The convict, Rev. Obiukwu Nnamdi Royalson, was earlier arraigned by the Commission on a 5-count charge of conspiracy, forgery, fraud, cheating and dishonesty. However, following a plea bargain, the counts were reviewed to three.
The trial judge, Justice Nwobodo of High Court 5, sitting in Enugu, found Royalson guilty on all the 3 counts preferred against him by the prosecution, and accordingly sentenced him to a fine of N100,000.
Rev. Royalson was said to have earlier deceived one Ogbonna Eucharia Chidiebere into believing that ICP was an accredited academic institution offering all professional courses, then fraudulently enrolled her into a pre-clinical medical course and engaged one Eze Christian Chinedu as a lecturer to teach her.
He was also said to have issued her with an academic transcript preparatory to her travelling to the Philippines to complete her degree in Medicine, while knowing fully well that the “college” did not have the approval of the Federal Ministry of Education, nor that of the National Universities Commission to offer Medicine as a course, or any other professional course for that matter.
