Justice Kabir Dabo of Kaduna State High Court sitting in Sabon Gari, Zaria has begun hearing a case challenging the appointment of Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli as the new Emir of Zazzau by Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Dateline Nigeria reported that Bamalli was appointed the 19th Emir of Zazzau after the death of Shehu Idris, who ruled for 45 years.
Dateline Nigeria also reported that one of the leading contenders, Bashar Aminu, Iyan Zazzau, filed a suit challenging the appointment of Bamalli.
Iyan Zazzau got the highest score after assessments by the kingmakers.
The Kaduna State government however dropped the list citing irregularities, and ordered fresh selection process.
The court adjourned hearing till October 27.
