Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, on Tuesday, paid a visit to the Minister of Defence, retired Major General Bashir Magashi, to seek more support in tackling banditry in Kaduna State.
The governor’s visit is coming two days after bandits attacked communities in Igabi and Giwa local government areas of the state, leaving over 50 people killed and many houses as well as vehicles burnt.
During a sympathy visit to the communities, el-Rufai apologized to them over the government’s inability to fully protect them and promised to go after the bandits.
While asking for the people’s forgiveness, the governor ruled out any amnesty for the bandits.
President Muhammadu Buhari, in a statement, also promised to do more to protect the people from the bandits.
