Bagudu, Uzodinma, Badaru meet Fulani, Igbo leaders in Owerri

Kebbi State Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, who doubles as the chairman of Progressives Governors’ Forum, on Friday, met the leadership of Fulani and Igbo Communities in Owerri, Imo State.

Bagudu was joined by his Imo and Jigawa counterparts Hope Uzodinma and Mohammed Badaru Abubakar respectively.

This is part of efforts to mend the fragile relationships between different ethnic groups and religious divides,

Also in attendance were the Deputy Governor of Imo state, Speaker Imo state House of Assembly, Miyetti Allah National President Abubakar Kiruwa and his Secretary, Miyetti Allah branch chairmen of Imo, Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi states.

“The intent of the meeting is to reconcile the Fulanis and host community (Igbos) and to also foster peace and trust between the parties in question,” Bagudu’s media aide Yahaya Sarki.

“The all-inclusive meeting has started bearing fruits, all those involved expressed satisfaction and promised to be peace ambassadors, in consequence, trust has been restored which will culminate to peaceful coexistence,” the statement said.
