Ali Nuhu, others mourn Kannywood popular producer Umma Ali

The pioneer chairperson of the Association of [Hausa] Women Film Producers Hajiya Umma Ali has passed on after a protracted illness.

She died on Sunday at the Premier Hospital located on Court Road in Kano where she was taken to earlier in the day, her friend and associated Balaraba Ramat Yakubu announced on Kannywood Elders Forum.

Her funeral prayers held Sunday evening.

Dateline Nigeria observed many Kannywood stars took to their platforms to mourn the producer.

“The death has occurred of Hajiya Umma Ali (producer) today and her funeral has also held according to Islamic rites. We pray to Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings and admit her into paradise. May we also be granted a peaceful passage when it is our turn,” Abba El-Mustapha posted.

The message was shared by Ali Nuhu, Falalu Dorayi, Bello Mohammed Bello (General BMB), Hafsat Idris who also prayed for the repose of Hajiya Umma Ali’s soul.

Hajiya Umma started producing Hausa films in 1997, recalling that at the time it was male-dominated. She has produced many films including Kaddara Ta Riga Fata 1, 2, 3, and Roma Rogo.
