86 new cases take Nigeria’s COVID-19 toll to 627

Lagos records 70 infections as Jigawa, Borno join affected states

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 86 new cases of COVID-19 in seven states, pushing the country’s toll to 627 as on 11:50pm, April 19.

The reported cases are 70 in Lagos, seven in FCT, three in Katsina, three in Akwa Ibom, one in Jigawa, one in Bauchi and one in Borno.

The case in Borno involved a retired nurse was working in Pulka, Gwoza local government, who died after showing symptoms of the virus. His sample was taken and it was confirmed positive.

Niger- 2

Benue- 1

Anambra- 1

Borno- 1

Jigawa- 2

One of the two cases in Jigawa was transferred from neighbouring Kano State, leaving the latter with 36 cases now.

The number of discharged patients who have recovered now stands at 170, while number of deaths also rose to 21.
