Zazzau emir elevates Munir Ja’afaru from Yarima to Madaki

  • …appoints new Iya, Talba, Magajin Gari

The Emir of Zazzau Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli has made nine new appointments.

This is contained in a confirmation notice dated Friday, January 8, 2021 sent to the members of the Zazzau Emirate Council.

The major appointment is that of Alhaji Munir Jafaru, who was elevated from Yarima to Madaki, according to the notice signed by the Secretary Alhaji Bara’u Musa Aliyu (Sarkin Fulanin Zazzau).

The last two holders of the Madaki title in Zazzau were Aliyu Shehu Idris and Kabiru Shehu Idris, both deceased sons of the late Emir Shehu Idris.

Palace sources say, Munir Ja’afaru, a son of the 16th Emir of Zazzau Ja’afaru Dan Isyaku (1937-1959), has outgrown the title of Yarima (prince), which is usually reserved for the sons of emirs. He was turbaned in 1995.

Munir Ja’afaru was the sole candidate of the Barebari ruling dynasty in the race to produce successor to late Emir Shehu Idris. Bamalli was eventually appointed by the Kaduna State Government.

The emir’s younger brother Mansur Nuhu Bamalli has also been elevated to Magajin Gari (the emir’s former position) from Barde Kerarriya.

Abbas Tajudeen, the lawmakers representing Zaria Constituency in the House of Representatives, is the new Iyan Zazzau, the title held by late Bashar Aminu, who died one week ago.

Alhaji Idris Ibrahim Idris moved from Barde to become Sa’in Zazzau, while Shehu Tijjani, until now the Barden Kudu, is the new Barden Zazzau and District Head of Makera Kaduna.

Abdulkarim Bashir Aminu, a son of the late Iyan Zazzau and the present Kogunan Zazzau, has been named the new Talban Zazzau, replacing Albdulkadir Iya Pate who died a week ago.

Alhaji Bashir Abubakar, a retired assistant comptroller general, is now Barden Kudun Zazzau.

The emir also appointed Buhari Aminu Ciroma as Barde Kerarriya and Aminu Iya Sa’idu as Kogunan Zazzau.

The notice said date for the turbanning ceremony would be announced in due course after the conclusion of all the necessary arrangements.
