Zamfara directs schools to reopen

The Zamfara State Ministry of Education directed schools across the state categorised as ‘Green’ and ‘Yellow’ to reopen on Monday, January 17, 2022.

Schools categorised as ‘Red’ are however to remain shut until the security situation in their host communities improves.

This is contained in a statement on Sunday issued by the Ag DEQAS, Shehu Ibrahim Imam, for Hon Commissioner.

“This is to inform all Principals, Head Teachers of Schools below tertiary level both Public and Private that were categorised as GREEN and YELLOW by the MOE magament, to reopen tomorrow Monday 17 January 2022 for normal lessons.

“However schools that were in RED category remain closed until when the security situation improves. Officials from MOE and Zonal directors will go round to see the level of compliance,” the statement said.

Dateline Nigeria reports that the Zamfara State government shuts many schools across the state due to to rising cases of abduction of students by bandit terrorists.

The schools were also categorised based on the security nature in the areas they are located.

The Zamfara State House of Assembly had in December passed a resolution for the government to reopen both state-owned and private schools.
