The people of Magami and Mayaba communities in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, are still mourning after bandits killed many farmers.
A witness, who survived the attack, said they performed funeral prayers for 17 people who were killed as they cleared their farms ahead of the farming season on Wednesday evening.

The witness also said nine other farmers were wounded while an unspecified number of animals were rustled by the bandits.
The spokesman of the Zamfara State Police Command, SP Muhammad Shehu, was bit immediately available for comment.
