You’ve achieved martyrdom, Gumi pays tribute to slain officer

Kaduna based Islamic scholar Dr Ahmad Gumi has paid glowing tribute to a Second Lieutenant A. Alhassan of the Nigerian Army who was killed by an improvised explosive device in the North East.

Alhassan was travelling with a dozen soldiers in a convoy of two military gun trucks when the incident happened. The explosive device suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram insurgents left some soldiers injured.

Gumi, himself a retired military officer, took to his Facebook page where he posted the tribute titled “Eulogy of 2nd Lt. Abdullahi Alhassan (N/17992) رحمه الله تعالى”

Dr Gumi and the slain officer

“This young brilliant promising army office has achieved martyrdom fighting al-khawarij of this Era yesterday afternoon at the battlefield.

“The prophet- alaishis Salam- wished he had the chance to destroy them like how Allah The Almighty destroyed the people of Ad.

“Our teaming youth should emulate this kind of hardworking and upright officer. His selfless contribution to protect our religion, region, country and humanity from the excesses of ignorance, greed and deviation, will insha Allah be rewarded.

“I will use this opportunity to call on the Army to open its doors to this kind of diligent youth and increase the voluntary conscription into the force in numbers that can be able to tackle the menace of BH, armed bandits and kidnappers that are having their heydays all over the nation especially in the northern states.

“May Allah accept his jihad and showers him with His blessings and mercy. May Allah console us, his family, the Army and the nation for this great loss for us and a big victory for him. Amin.”
