Young female Qur’an reciter Aisha Muhammad Makeri dies
Famous Jos, Plateau State based Qur’an reciter Aisha Muhammad Makeri, popularly known as Humaira, has passed on.
The young Aisha, who has committed the whole of Quran to memory, died on Friday at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) Shika, Kaduna State, after undergoing second eye surgery.
After the ailment to led her to losing her sight, Malam Abubakar Goron Namaye and others, around middle of 2022, sponsored her treatment, taking her from Jos to ABUTH.
“The first surgery was conducted successfully in 2022. The second surgery was just performed and she died shortly after,” according to a family friend who also informed that the young Humaira lost her mother while undergoing treatment.
Young Humaira achieved fame with her peculiar recitation of the Qur’an, which many describe as emotionally soothing and relaxing.
Her funeral prayer (janaza) held in Jos on Friday was attended by hundreds of mourners, including the member represeting Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Muhammad Adam Alkali.
Meanwhile, many people have taken to their social media handles sharing the videos of the young Humaira, praying to Almighty Allah to forgive her and admit her into paradise.
One of the mourners, Manir Ahmad, said “We truly have no excuse for our ignorance of religious knowledge. Aisha Muhammad Makeri had sight problems but she went deep in seeking knowledge.
“May Almighty Allah forgive her and make the Qur’an intercede for her on the day of judgment. We will never forget your mastery in the recitation of the Qur’an”
Another mourner, Abubakar Usman Yandadee, said “At a time when young women are busy dancing on Tiktok, Aisha Muhammad Makeri was busy recording her recitations.
“As the news of her death reaches you, as she is laying beneath the earth in her grave… I mentioned her name above for those who might like to search for her videos. May Allah bless you as you hit the share button.”
