We’re looking into reopening borders as soon as possible – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that Nigeria is looking into reopening its land borders “as soon as possible.

Dateline Nigeria reports that borders were closed to check the activities of smugglers and help the local economy.

Buhari said, in his meeting with state governors, “I explained that the closure of Nigeria’s land borders was partly an attempt to control the smuggling in of weapons and drugs.

“Now that the message has sunk in with our neighbours,we’re looking into reopening the borders as soon as possible,” he tweeted on Tuesday.

Nigeria is bordered by Benin, Cameroon, Chad and Niger.
