He added that they have worked with him during his tenure as Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education and they have confidence in his capacity to deliver just like he did as PS.

Prof Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed said the good thing is that the new ES is not a stranger to TETfund because as PS he was a board member of the fund representing the ministry, adding that they were not surprised that he has àlready hit the ground running.

Prof. Abdulkarim used the ocassion to appeal to the new ES to help the twelve new universities with more special intervention to develop their critical infrastructure because as new universities, they are far behind the old generation universities infrastructure wise.

He also craved the magnanimity of the fund to make interventions to the twelve new varsities open so that each university càn use the intervention to address urgent and specific needs rather than tagging the intervention thereby making adjustment difficult.

The VC also appealed to the ES to give special consideration to the new universities in the area of fellowship and conferences in order to train critical manpower for the new institutions compared to the old generation universities who are far ahead in terms of manpower.

In his remark, the ES thanked the VCs for the visit adding that he was happy that they came in group to present their case.

Arch .Echono said he was already thinking along the line of their suggestions. He promised to look into the issues affecting the new varsities and act accordingly.
