Tragedy as mother, two children die in Bauchi inferno

A mother and her two children have been burnt to death in a fire incident in Riban Garmu village, Dewu Ward of Kirfi Council Area of Bauchi State.

A member representing Kirfi in the Bauchi State House of Assembly Honorable Abdulkadir Umar Dewu disclosed this after a sympathy visit to the victims on behalf of Governor Senator Bala Mohammed.

The lawmaker said it’s a pity to see a woman and her two biological children consumed by fire, but urged the families of the victims to take the incident as an act of God and pray to almighty Allah to stop a recurrence.

He presented Governor Bala Muhammad’s donation of N250,000 to the victims’ families.

While noting that no amount of money can pay the price of a mother and her two children, Dewu extended Governor Bala Mohammed condolences to the families of the deceased and the community.

A community leader in the area Mallam Muhammadu Riban Garmu thanked the governor and the lawmaker for identifying with the community during their trying moments and prayed to almighty Allah to reward them abundantly.

He described the deceased as an obedient woman, who lived peacefully with her people and expressed that the community will continue to remember her generosity. He also prayed to Allah to have mercy on her, forgive her sins and grant her eternal rest.

An eyewitness said they suspected the fire was as a result of electricity problem, after some sparks at night when they were sleeping.

The fire burnt the four bedroom house completely. “The fire started when the deceased and her two children were sleeping in the night and all effort to force the door of their room open failed. They cried and screamed for help but were consumed by the fire.”

The four people sustained injuries and are being treated at Kirfi General Hospital. He commended the lawmaker for putting up the medical bills of the injured persons.
