Tambuwal speaks on emergence as Senator-elect for Sokoto South

Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has reacted tonhis victory as the Senator-elect for Sokoto South under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Dateline Nigeria reports that Tambuwal defeated the currrent Senator Abdullahi Danbaba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by polling a total of 100,860 votes. Danbaba, garnered a total number of 95,884 votes.

“Power belongs to him (God) and HE shares it with no other. Let me also thank the people of Sokoto South Senatorial district; and all our leaders and followers in Sokoto state for the hardwork, for the commitment, for all that they did for us to attain this precious victory.

“I believe, that as journalists, you are very aware of the intensity of interests in this Senatorial Seat of Sokoto South; and, for no other reason than the fact that it is my person and personality that is in the issue.

“So, it calls for a deep sober reflection. I believe it should serve as a lesson to human beings and people who believe that they must have everything their way, discounting the God’s factor.

“It is God that gives power. It is Him that gives position. No any should arrogate to himself what belongs to God.

“My reaction is that we should all learn and continue to learn from our deep activities and their outcomes

“By the grace of God i am going back to the National Assembly for the fourth time. I have been there for three times unbroken as a member, principal officer and ultimately as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“When I go back, by the grace of God, I’ll bring all of my responsibility to bear on the new assignment. There is no much difference in being in the House of Representatives and in the Senate, except of course, the additional responsibility that the Senate is having of confirmation of appointments that Mr President is having.

“Otherwise, virtually all of the responsibilities of the Senate, outside the confirmations are same with that of the House of Representatives.

“So, I am not likely to meet anything new. It is a familiar terrain. Rest assured that I will give the people of Sokoto South very effective representation on the floor of the Tenth Senate,” he said.
