The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has declared Friday, March 4, 2022 as the first day of Sha’aban 1443AH.
This is contained in a statement issued on behalf of the Sultan by the Secretary of the National Moon Sighting Committee of the NSCIA and Sarkin Malaman Sokoto Yahaya Muhammad Boyi on Thursday.
It was earlier diaclosed that the Sha’aban crescent was sighted in different locations in Nigeria on Thursday evening. Some of the locations are: Misau, Azare, Gombe, Nafada and Gashua .
Dateline Nigeria reports that the sighting of the Sha’ban crescent means the fasting month of Ramadan is now a month away.
