Senator hails rescue of constituent from Lebanon

Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe (APC, Kwara) has commended the Federal Government over the rescue of one of his constituents Ms Ajayi Omolola who was trafficked to Lebanon and held against her will.

The senator, a trained medical doctor, shared the news on twitter saying Ms Omolola “will be reunited with her family in the not too distant future.”

“Today I received confirmation that Ms Ajayi Omolola, one of my constituents who was being held against her will in an unfortunate situation in Lebanon has been successfully rescued and is now with the Nigerian Consulate in Lebanon.

He thanked the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and the Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Julie Okah-Donli, who swung into action to ensure her safe rescue.

“I urge my fellow countrymen to be wary of promises of greener pasture in foreign countries.”

Dabiri-Erewa had earlier disclosed that the alleged trafficker had been arrested and would be handed over to NAPTIP, and that the family of the lady have been traced.
