Security of lives and property our topmost priority, Gombe governor says

  • APC campaign train berths In Billiri; visits Bare, Billiri South, Kalmai, Baganje South, Tanglan, Tal Wards

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa said security of lives and property of citizens will continue to be the focal point of his administration at all times.

The governor stated this in Billiri when Gombe State APC Campaign team visited 6 wards I the area to canvass votes and support for the APC candidates ahead of the 2023 General Elections.

The first port of call was the palace of Mai Tangle, His Royal Highness, Malam Danladi Sunusi Mai Yamba, where the governor paid a traditional homage to seek for his royal blessings.

Governor Inuwa, who holds the traditional title of Danlawan in the Tangale Chiefdom, said protection of lives and property of the people always tops his government’s agenda, noting that no meaningful development could be achieved without peace.

He lamented over the security challenges bedevilling the local government and the increasing number of kidnappings in some parts of the area, a development he attributed to the failure of leadership in the past.

Governor Inuwa explained that criminality respects no bound. “Crime has no religion, region, tribe or identity, when one of us is terrorised, all of us will be affected regardless of the faith one professes or the language he or she speaks. Criminals do not respect religion or region when perpetrating their heinous acts”.

“People of different faiths have been living peacefully under one roof for many centuries in this chiefdom, this good relationship should be preserved; We should embrace the virtue of understanding and forgiveness for the overall progress of our society”, he added.

He recommended community dialogue and reconciliation as surest ways to resolving differences and restoring peace, unity and progress in the chiefdom and beyond.

On politics, Governor Inuwa said APC stands for progress and development, assuring of the credibility and competency of all its candidates.

The governor assures Tangale People of his stern disposition to continue to provide them with dividends of democracy.

The governor used the visit to announce the immediate release of people arrested over their involvement in the riots that beclouded the aftermath of the thronement of Mai Tangle.

In his response, the Mai Tangle, Malam Danladi Sunusi Mai Yamba, appreciated the governor for the visit describing it as home-coming.

He applauded the governor’s efforts in improving healthcare facilities in the Tangale Chiefdom, improving farming activities, providing roads and other pro-masses policies and programmes.

The Royal father thanked the governor for lifting the curfew ealier imposed on Billiri LGA, assuring him of communal reconciliation to restore unity, harmony and tolerance among the diverse groups of the Chiefdom.

Earlier in her welcome address, the outgoing Chairperson, Billiri Local Government, Mrs Margaret Bitrus said, the governor has brought enormous development to the LGA. She specifically mentioned the construction of Ladongor-Amtawallam Road, Pobawure-Ayaba Road, Billiri-Lashikotok-Gujuba Road, ongoing rehabilitation of road from Todi to Tudu Kwaya, rehabilitation of healthcare facilities in all the wards in the LGA, building of schools among others.

She also commended the governor’s show of sympathy over the unfortunate incident at Amtawalam and Pobawure villages that claimed three lives some few weeks ago where Governor Inuwa provided monetary assistance and relief materials to the affected communities after visiting the scenes of the incident.

In his remarks, the Director-General
State APC Campaign Council, Barrister Zubair Muhammad Umar said they were at the palace to introduce the APC candidates to the Mai for his fatherly blessings, support and prayers for peace and success of the movement

He said APC stands for equity, that is why the presidential candidate came from the south and the process of nominating candidates is solely a political matter devoid of religious sentiments.

The campaign train visited Bare, Billiri South, Kalmai, Baganje South, Tanglang and Tal Wards of Billiri LGA where thousands of defectors from the opposition parties were also formally received.

Other APC Stalwarts who drummed support for Governor Inuwa and other APC candidates include: Gombe State Coordinator Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Council, Dr Jamilu Isiyaka Gwamna, Former Deputy Governor, Mr Charles Iliya, APC contestants for national and state assemblies, community leaders among others.
