Prof Maimuna Waziri has emerged the first female and third substantive Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Gashua (FUGA).
She will succeed Prof Andrew Haruna who is due to complete his tenure early February.
Prof Maimuna’s appointment was approved by the governing council of the varsity, according to a statement on Saturday by the FUGA’s Head of Information and Protocol Unit, Usar Ignatius.
Maimuna, a Professor of Chemistry, defeated 47 other candidates in a contest on Saturday January 16, 2021.
The Pro-Chancellor and the Chairman of the Governing council, Ibrahim Akuyam, congratulated the new vice Chancellor and urged her to work with all.
