Prof Dahiru Yahaya dies at 74

A famous Professor of History Dahiru Yahya has died on Wednesday after a protracted illness.

Family sources said his funeral prayer will hold today at 4pm at his Ungogo residence in Kano.

Yahaya was born in Dawakin Kudu town of Kano Emirate in Northern Nigeria on 30th June 1947.

He completed the reading of the Quran at Unguwar Sharifai Koranic School, Dawakin Kudu in 1955. He recieved further Islamic instructions under the tutelage of his mother.

He completed primary and secondary school education at Dawakin Kudu junior primary (1960) and Birnin Kudu Secondary school (1975) respectively.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History (Special Honours) at Abdullahi Bayero College, Ahmadu Bello University in 1970 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree (Diplomatic History) at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom in 1975.
