Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa appointed KASU VC

The governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir el-Rufai has approved the appointment of Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa as the Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU).

According to the governor, this followed the recommendation of five candidates by the Governing Council of the university.

He is the current University Librarian.

Prof. Musa is taking over from Prof. Abdullahi Musa Ashafa, who was appointed Acting Vice-Chancellor in June, 2022.

Prof. Musa holds a Ph.D. in Library Science from Emporia University, Kansas, and an MBA from Bayero University, Kano. He got his first degree in Library Science from BUK and a Master’s in Library Science from Ahmadu Bello University, where he also headed the Department of Library & Information Science.

The new Vice Chancellor was a visiting scholar with the University of Illinois Graduate School of Library and Information Science, Emporia State University Kansas, and The Mortenson Center for International Library Programs at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has taught courses in information studies in the United States and Nigeria.

Prof. Musa is from Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
