The Zamfara State Police Command said it has repelled an armed robbery attack by bandits along Gusau-Sokoto road on Sunday.
A statement by the spokesperson of the police in the state, Shehu Muhammad, said the encounter took place at Dogon Karfe in Bakura Local Government Area of the Zamfara State.
The attack which was meant to rob innocent commuters of their valuables was foiled by the Police Tactical operatives deployed to safeguard the road against any invasion by criminal elements.
Shehu reported that the gun battle, which lasted for hours, resulted in many bandits fleeing with fatal injurie
Shehu assured commuters that the road has been cleared and is now safe for movement, adding that armed policemen have been deployed to continue patrolling the area.
