Police arrest kidnappers with N3.6m ‘ransom money’ in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has paraded three suspected kidnappers with over N3.6m ransom money allegedly collected from the family of a kidnapped victim.

The suspects were among those paraded by the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer SP Gambo Isah during a press briefing at the command headquarters.

According to SP Gambo Isah, the suspects were arrested by a team of policemen attached to Faskari Divisional Police office along the Yankara Faskari axis.

“On 25/02/2021 at about 13:00hrs, Police Patrol Team, attached to Faskari Division, while on routine patrol along Funtua – Yankara road, accosted the trio of (1) Lawali Duna, ‘M’. aged 40yrs, (2) Muhammadu Lawali Babuga, ‘M’, aged 22yrs and (3) Hussaini Abubakara, ‘M’, aged 30yrs of Kunkurmi village, Bungudu LGA of Zamfara state, notorious members of syndicate of bandits and kidnappers terrorizing Katsina and Zamfara states.

“Nemesis caught up with the suspects when they were intercepted on their way back to Zamfara state from Kaduna after collecting ransom money from the relatives of a kidnapped victim.

The PPRO said the suspects have confessed to the said crime, adding that they will be taken to court for prosecution upon completion of investigation.
