Pantami commissions Imo State Emergency Communication Centre

As part of the implementation of the Digital Nigeria project that aims to enhance digital transformation in Nigeria, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami on Thursday officially commissioned the Imo State Emergency Communications Centre (ECC).

The 112 toll-free line which leverages on digital technology is intended to bridge the communication gap between the distressed and emergency response agencies in line with the NEXT LEVEL agenda.

In his remarks, Dr Pantami stated that the ECC centre is in line with the key priority areas of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, adding that, the centre will improve security, enhance economic development and help in the fight against corruption.

The Honourable Minister also revealed that the centre will operate 24 hours a day, and no network operator will charge the end user for making use of the service.

Pantami further reiterated the importance of the ECC centre which he described as an essential project that will enhance the security of lives and property in the country in line with President Buhari’s national agenda to improve the security of lives and property for the citizens.

On His part, the Host Governor, Gov Hope Uzodimma appreciated the Federal Government for sighting the ECC project in the State and other interventions projects provided.

The Governor said “We are already benefiting from the Emergency Communications Centre, the centre has helped to reduce crime rate in the State.
