In a bid to bring government closer to the people, Matadors Leadership Institute, in partnership with the Office of the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, State of Osun, at the weekend held a fireside chat with young professionals in the State to deliberate on government programmes and policies.
Addressing the participants, the Chief Press Secretary to Govenor Oyetola, Ismail Omipidan, noted that over the years, youth engagement in government promotes good governance, fosters good rapport between the Government and the youths as well as helps create an enabling environment.
He recalled that on assumption of office, Governor Oyetola set up machineries to promote civic engagement and build relationship with residents through numerous programmes and subsequently solve societal issues.
He also noted that from inception, the Oyetola-led Administration has been working assiduously to promote even development in the State. He added that the present government is a responsible and responsive one that puts the interests of the people as a first line charge.
In their series of questions, the participants asked questions that border on the efforts of the government in enhancing growth and development in the State as well as specific efforts of the government at boosting the State’s economy. They equally requested to know how the Governor was managing the lean resources of the State to achieve more with little, just as they requested to be given the opportunity to tap from the leadership skills of Mr. Governor, especially financial re-engineering and management skills.
While responding, Ismail Omipidan noted that the Oyetola-led Administration in the last two years had performed excellently in the areas of infrastructure, security, education, health among others.
“Mr. Governor has been able to achieve much with little because he sets his priorities right and makes the people the centre-piece of government policies and programmes. Any trait a man is able to maintain at over 60, rest assured such a person can never change. Mr. Governor has sincerity of purpose; he has integrity. All these traits have come to play in the discharge of his responsibilities. So, all the works he is doing now will not stop even after he gets a second term by the benevolence of Osun people and the Grace of God. He will also make himself available to replicate many Adegboyegas in our youths, ” Omipidan responded.
