Numan market inferno: Fintiri visits scene, donates N5m to victims

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State Wednesday commiserated with victims of the fire which gutted a section of ‘Kasuwan Inji’ a popular market in Numan.

The early morning inferno which was caused by an electrical fault has affected a number of shops where goods worth millions of naira were reportedly lost due to the raging fire.

The Governor, who visited the market to inspect the extent of damage by the inferno, said that the government would assist the traders affected to get back to their businesses.

The Governor appealed to the victims of the fire disaster not to despair bit to rather take the unfortunate accident as a misfortune that can befall anyone.

He, thereafter, donated five million nairas to the victims to cushion their loses assuring that government will continue to accord priority to traders in the state for the economy to flourish.

The Executive Chairman of the Numan local government council, Christopher Sofore thanked Governor Fintiri for finding time out of his busy schedule to visit Numan and commiserate with the victims.

He also appreciated the Governor for assisting the victims of the fire, assuring that the money donated will be judiciously distributed across the victims in the market.

Earlier in his remarks, the leader of the market, Mr. Moses Tembe said the fire which started around three-thirty Monday morning destroyed foodstuffs among other goods in the market.

Governor Umaru Fintiri was accompanied to Numan by Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, Federal Lawmaker Kwamoti La’ori, Speaker Aminu Iya Abbas, and other top government functionaries.
