Nigerians react as Anthony Joshua enrolls for National ID

Nigerians have taken to their social media handles to react to the reported enrolment for the National Identification Number by Boxing champion Anthony Joshua.

This followed a post by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) on twitter saying that the British-Nigerian boxer Joshua had already been issued his (National Identification Number (NIN) slip.

Dateline Nigeria reports that NIN has been made a requirement for JAMB registration and others. Only recently a minister called for the integration of National ID Cards, SIM and Bank Verification Number (BVN).

Joshua, who was born on 15 October 1989 in Watford, Hertfordshire, is the son of Yeta and Robert Joshua. His mother is Nigerian, while his father is of Nigerian and Irish ancestry. Joshua spent some of his early years in Nigeria as a boarding school student at Mayflower School in Ikenne, according to the Wikipedia.
