Nigeria has recorded its first coronavirus death, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced.
The centre announced this in a tweet on Monday, adding that the victim was a 67-year-old man who returned to the country following a medical procedure in the UK.
The victim was later identified as a former Managing Director of the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), Suleiman Achimugu.
He had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma & diabetes & was undergoing chemotherapy Our thoughts are with his family, the NCDC added.
Meanwhile, NCDC said it will not be commenting on the management of individual cases.
“The management of cases is the responsibility of States and treatment centres and they are doing their best under difficult circumstances,” it added.
