Nigeria records 5 new COVID-19 cases

...toll rises to 51 as lockdown looms

Five new cases of COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria, with two in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, two in Lagos and one in Rivers

This was disclosed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday via its Twitter handle.

It said three of the new cases are returning travellers into Nigeria, while two are close contacts of a confirmed case

“As at 11:25 pm 25th March, there are: 51 confirmed cases; two discharged; and one death.

FCT- 10

Ogun- 3

Ekiti- 1

Oyo- 1

Edo- 1

Bauchi-1

Osun-1

Rivers-1

Total: 51 confirmed cases.”

Meanwhile, more states are enforcing restrictions on movement and public gatherings as nationwide lockdown looms.

Already the Nigerian Army, in a memo, has asked military personnel to be on alert for possible deployment to help in the fight against the COVID-19.
