NHIS visits Yobe healthcare facilities for reaccreditation

A team of professionals from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has visited Healthcare Facilities (HCFs) in Yobe State for reaccreditation.

Yobe NHIS Coordinator Alhaji Dabo I. Abdullahi, who welcomed the team from the scheme’s national headquarters Abuja, prayed for a successful conduct of the exercise.

According to a statement by the Yobe NHIS spokesman Dr Salisu Hassan said both government and private owned healthcare facilities were visited for the reaccreditation exercise.

They include: Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital, Yobe State Teaching Hospital, Ajiko Medical Center Damaturu, Police Clinic, Federal Polytechnic Clinic, General Hospital Damagum, General Hospital Gashua, City Clinic Damaturu.

“The reaccreditation exercise was conducted to ensure that the NHIS already accredited Healthcare Facilities are maintaining standard and providing quality services to the enrollees,” the statement said.

Leader of the reaccreditation team described the exercise as timely when new programmes were introduced to ensure the achievement of Universal Health Coverage in the country.

“For instance, Group Individual Family Social Health Insurance Programme (GIFSHIP) was newly introduced to cover people that have not already been covered by the other NHIS programmes.

“Artisans, self employed, retirees and their associations, adopted children, small scale enterprises are all eligible to the GIFSHIP programme,” it said
